Kimberly Hirschman

Kimberly Hirschman

Oxbow UHS

Kimberly Hirschman, Oxbow High study hall director, takes at least 11,000 steps a day.  “I’m a bit obsessed,” she said proudly displaying her Fitbit.

To meet her goal, Hirschman begins each day with a Beach Body workout, walks before school begins for 20 minutes, again during her breaks, at lunch and then at the end of the school day.  When she needs additional steps, she will circle the study hall classroom repeatedly.   As a result of all of this walking, Hirschman has piqued the curiosity of students and staff members, some of whom are now asking for her assistance in replicating her routines.

In addition to her daily goal, Hirschman is now taking on a variety of new challenges.  Last summer she participated in the Mudderella, a women’s only mud run with multiple obstacles, some of which required traveling through water.  “I can’t really swim,” she said laughing, “but I did it anyway.” She and her colleague Lomond Richardson, also tested themselves on the Rubble Wild, a high ropes course, wearing climbing harnesses and helmets.   This summer they plan to participate in the Dirty Girl race in Killington, the NH Foam Glo, a night- time black light and glowing foam 5K. They plan to wear matching outfits and socks.

Hirschman and Richardson have worked together for ten years.  They are totally committed to supporting each other’s health-related activities.  “We first began working out in Richardson’s home and then began making use of fitness DVD’s.  Now we are focused on creating and nailing a number of 30 day challenges, most recently including ones that are focused on hydration, planks and squats.
